On Sunday, June 9th, 2002, Elmo earned his 3rd leg, completing his OA. It was a very hot day, but a wonderful day for terriers, there at the Puyallup trial!
I had been chatting with the owner of the Kerry Blue, both of us were pleased to be able to break up the Shelties a bit in the 16" class. Well, on this day, we didn't just stand out for not being fluffy. These two terriers were the only qualifiers in the 16" Open standard class! No shortage of Shelties running, but when the heat is on, it takes a terrier to get the job done!
The lovely Rascal took first place, and Elmo was second. (he doesn't mind being second to a bitch- my boy is a true gentleman.)
(I also had the pleasure of watching a Border Terrier finish his MACH, while I was ring stewarding for Excellent standard. )
Here's Rascal and Elmo again. Note that Rascal is demure and ladylike about her 1st place, while Elmo is just smug about terrier superiority....
