Cake was born sometime in June of 1989. A friend of mine found him on the sidewalk, with his sister, and brought the kittens to my apartment since we were set up for cats- at the time, my two roommates and I had two cats in the apartment. I had long wanted a cat with these markings, so I decided to keep this one. I chose the name years before I got the cat, so I don't remember why I picked it, but shortly afterwards I commenced on my theory that all cats should be named after food.
One of the two cats already in the apartment was half mine, but I gave up my interest in her, since I didn't think it was fair for me to have a cat and a half, and my roommate only half a cat.
Cake likes things that make noise- on one memorable occasion, he was hooking the telephone off the receiver so he could listen to the dial tone. He is also a very social cat- he greets all visitors at the door, and shows them around the house.
He is accustomed to being the dominant pet in the household. Fortunately, cats and dogs use totally different social cues, so both he and Elmo continue to believe themself top pet, with no conflict!
He's a great pal, who has given me a lot of comfort when I have needed it over the years. When I got home from the hospital, after breaking my wrist, he started the habit of sleeping under the covers with me, which he still does.
Cake has many friends and admirers.
